House GOP Declares ‘Crypto Week’ to Vote on GENIUS, CLARITY Bills

House Republicans have designated the week of July 14 as "Crypto Week," with plans to vote on three pivotal digital asset bills that could redefine the U.S. regulatory landscape. Speaker Mike Johnson, alongside House Financial Services Chair French Hill and Agriculture Chair GT Thompson, confirmed the House will consider the GENIUS stablecoin bill, the CLARITY market structure bill, and legislation to ban a central bank digital currency (CBDC).

The GENIUS Act, already passed by the Senate, mandates full dollar backing for stablecoins and imposes annual audits on issuers with market caps exceeding $50 billion. Despite earlier disagreements over state-level pathways, the House appears poised to adopt the Senate’s version to accelerate progress. Former President TRUMP has publicly demanded a stablecoin bill by August.

The CLARITY bill, a joint effort by the Financial Services and Agriculture Committees, outlines a dual regulatory framework for the SEC and CFTC. It aims to bring long-awaited clarity to crypto market participants, addressing jurisdictional overlaps and establishing clear compliance standards.
